Cupping Therapy

Myofascial Cupping Therapy

How does cupping work?

Suction from cupping draws fluid into the treated area. This suction force expands and breaks open tiny blood vessels (capillaries) under the skin. Your body treats the cupping area like an injury. It sends more blood to the area to stimulate the natural healing process. Some people theorize that cupping clears the pores and releases toxins.

People have used cupping for thousands of years to ease back pain, neck pain, headaches and other problems. Cupping therapy involves creating a suction force to pull blood into the skin. Cupping causes bruising and can lead to skin infection. While research on the benefits of cupping is scarce, the treatment risks are low.

K-Taping

tape 3.jfif

Kinesiology tape is used in physical therapy as a therapeutic tool to alleviate pain. Kinesiology taping has evolved considerably as a method and offers many therapeutic benefits such as proprioceptive facilitation, muscle facilitation, reduced muscle fatigue, reduced edema, pain inhibition, and improvement of lymphatic drainage and blood flow. It has also been proven to assist with Ankle sprains, Knee injuries, Back pain, Menstrual pain, Shoulder pain and more. The Kinesio Taping Method is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement on a 24hr/day basis. It is non-restrictive type of taping which allows for full range of motion. Kinesio Tape is used for anything from headaches to foot problems and everything in between. K-Taping is offered in conjunction with massage therapy.

Examples include: muscular facilitation or inhibition in pediatric patients, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back strain/pain (subluxations, herniated disc), knee conditions, shoulder conditions, hamstring, groin injury, rotator cuff injury, whiplash, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, patella tracking, pre and post surgical edema, ankle sprains, athletic preventative injury method, and as a support method.
